Essex Tour 2004

30 parents and players representing the U13 Colts and U14 Juniors from Newtown Sports Junior Football Club travelled to Clacton-on-Sea to take part in a nationwide Football Tournament over the Whitsun Bank Holiday. Over the weekend both teams played numerous 11-a-side matches against teams from all over the country.
The standard of football was very high and with both teams down to a bear 11 players it was always going to be tough, suffice it to say neither side contested in any Finals. However, as usual, the weekend was enjoyed by all parents and players alike. Each player was presented with a trophy by Tony Cottee at a Gala Presentation, whilst the parents were left with abiding memories provided by Andy Harris and Dave Bowen slaving over the BBQ, Haydn Edwards parachute exit from the Chairman’s caravan, and Julian Roksam’s car laden with Decking ready for the journey home!
